Store Fulfillment, Channel Manager & Co.: New features for Adobe Commerce now available

Last week Adobe presented the Adobe Commerce June Feature Release. It includes great features such as the BOPIS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) feature for Adobe Commerce, Channel Manager functionality with the Walmart Marketplace and much more. In the following we will have a closer look on how the features can help you to further drive your commerce business.

1.) Store fulfillment for Adobe Commerce by Walmart Commerce technologies

Today's customer demands expanded omnichannel fulfillment options while expecting a maximum of flexibility. For merchants this means: Act accordingly! Nowadays it is essential to offer a "Buy Online Pick Up in Store" (BOPIS) option. BOPIS allows customers to shop online and pick up their order at a store location convenient to them. And this type of omnichannel fulfillment is not even new, as merchants have invested heavily in both BOPIS and curbside pickup over the last half decade. With the help of store fulfillment, Adobe Commerce merchants can offer their customers even more convenience, an improved shopping experience and faster processing. After placing their online order, customers can choose the pick-up option that is most convenient for them. The Store Fulfillment Mobile App makes it easy for store employees to pick, stage, and hand off orders quickly and accurately.

Benefits for customers

  • Convenient in-store or curbside pickup options, including designating an alternative person for pickup
  • Customer email notifications at every stage of order fulfillment
  • Customer check-in to minimize wait time

Benefits for your business

  • Store employee picking app for accurately picking and fulfilling orders for BOPIS or curbside
  • Store employee staging module to ensure a seamless customer handoff
  • Online inventory visibility that shows in-store product availability - crucial for driving online customers into stores
  • Enhanced inventory reservation model for increasing inventory visibility and updating stock information

2.) Channel Manager for Adobe Commerce

With Channel Manager you benefit from a free extension created by Adobe to help US-based merchants increase their sales, reach new customers, streamline their operations, and save valuable time by integrating their online catalog, inventory, pricing, and orders to the Walmart Marketplace. Walmart is the second largest marketplace nationwide. After setup Marketplace transaction fees may apply.

Channel Manager is designed to work seamlessly with Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source. Following features are included:

  • Listing management (item matching): Merchants can easily match products from their Adobe Commerce catalog to existing Walmart.com listings.
  • Inventory management: Items in the merchant's marketplace seller account are synced and updated automatically from Adobe Commerce. This helps to ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Pricing updates: Using this feature helps to benefit from automatic price syncing. When a price changes in Adobe Commerce, the changes are also reflected in the marketplace.
  • Order management: When new orders are created in the marketplace, Channel Manager synchronizes orders with Adobe Commerce and sends order acknowledgments to the marketplace to ensure inventory is reserved for each order.
  • Shipping management: When orders are marked as shipped in Adobe Commerce, the shipment update is sent to the marketplace to help ensure merchants meet their fulfillment SLA requirements and customers are notified.
  • Cancellations: When orders are canceled in Adobe Commerce, Channel Manager will send this information to the marketplace so the same action can be replicated on their side.

3.) API Mesh for Adobe Developer App Builder (beta program)

Adobe also announced the beta program for API Mesh with Adobe Commerce. It helps customers easily bring together multiple sources of data and microservices from across their organization into a single unified layer. Customers can integrate API for content, assets, search, shipping, inventory, and other applications with their commerce API to deliver rich experiences to shoppers.

Developers can add API and data sources to the API Mesh through simple configurations. Furthermore, with the help of API Mesh developers can monitor, secure, and scale their API globally while providing API extensibility in a low-code or no-code environment.
